Starting Protocol

*THIS IS A ROUGH DRAFT. IT MAY BE AMENDED AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE.


If you are EMCEEing, then you are first going to want to determine who has ads and who doesn’t. Be sure to write it down (first names only) so you know who may be delayed throughout the playlist session.

Then, before each new song, you’ll make sure the no-ads people are synced up to zero on the timeline, then you’ll turn to each person with ads and just have them tell you when their ads are done and they are also synced up to zero. Finally, go round robin and just get a confirmation from each person that they are all synced up to zero having either finished playing their ads or having none in the first place. Ed may ask for both a verbal and visual confirmation from everyone. You can ask him for details on how he does that part.

You will then hail me to begin the Starting Protocol.

When you say the Starting Protocol, try to say and repeat it as close to exact as possible every time. The whole gist of the idea here IS to say it quite precisely the same way every time. It’s that act that allows me to confidently connect and resonate with a sense that you, the EMCEE, and I are on the same page before proceeding forward. It’s the only way I can confidently feel that maybe we can all do this thing - is if I can FEEL the truth of you being ready to start. I may have you repeat this protocol a few times until it feels very, very clear and resonate.

The Starting Protocol is as follows. REPEAT THREE TIMES, UNLESS I INDICATE OTHERWISE. JUST REPEAT THREE TIMES CONTINUOUSLYBWITH NO INTERRUPTIONS:

YOU: "I can positively confirm that we do not have any ads*, we have synced up to zero and are ready to press play on the count of literally three for the song ___ by the artist ___." PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME THE NAME OF THE PLAYLIST UNLESS WE ARE RUNNING INTO REPETITIVE PROBLEMS THEN WE CAN AMEND THE STARTING PROTOCOL.

ME: "OK, then if you are all ready to press play on the count of literally three for the song ___ by the artist ___, I will take a last visual confirmation from you, Eddy, from you, Jack, etc….”

ME: "OK, then I will begin counting now…One, Two, Three.”


*NOTE; If there are friends present who also do have ads like me (and we do have some from time to time that join us) then you say, “I can positively confirm that we do not have any ads or have played through any ads….”
